If you ever happen to find yourself in the debris of a collapsed building, don't shout for help. The energy you will consume this way could be priceless to survive the next hours. Instead, you can knock a few times and repeat that frequently. If you are consistent, the emergency services will sooner or later detect that sound and find you.

Contrary to the common belief, hiding under water while running away from bees or wasps is not an option. The thing is that the insects will simply wait until you get out of water. The best way is to run away as far and as quickly as possible, hoping that they will quit chasing you.

No matter what your summer destination is, the emergency number is the same everywhere in Europe – 112. In USA, Mexico, Canada and some other countries it's 911.  These numbers will let you contact the ambulance, fire brigade or the police.

If you suddenly smell some fish in your house, this is very likely the smell of a burning socket or other parts of electrical wiring. Check all the system for overheating before anything catches fire. The plastic in sockets and other pieces are made of a variety of chemical compounds to resist high temperatures. However, once they fail and melt, they give off a smell really similar to the one of fish.

If your car has just ended up in water, try to open the door or window immediately. Once it is immersed completely, doing it will be much more difficult. Due to the pressure you can get stuck in the car and drown.
