From a public-health perspective, it doesn’t matter what your face mask looks like, where you got it, nose & mouth has to be covered in public spaces and in places where it is not possible to keep a sufficient distance. Many are preparing masks for themselves, from ordinary cotton clothe, through surgical, to achive more creative solutions.
