Walter Orthmann is a one-of-a-kind employee. He has accomplished something almost impossible and has written himself in the Guinness Book of World Records with it.
Nowadays, it is rare for someone to work at the same company for a dozen years. Usually everyone is looking for better conditions for development, more favorable contracts and, of course, a higher salary. However, one Brazilian man surprised everyone… with his seniority.
#Man Who Has Worked the Most Years
Walter Orthmann has worked in one company for 84 years and 9 days! For this feat he entered the Guinness Book of World Records. For all employees, he has one piece of advice: "Find a good employer and do what you love." While that's a rather idealistic message these days,…
#He Went to Work at the Age of 15
The Brazilian was born on April 19, 1922 in the city of Brusque. At the age of 15, he took a job at the textile company Industrias Renaux S.A. (now ReneauxView). He began his career as a shipping assistant. On the other hand, he went to work at such a young age because his family was in financial trouble and support was needed, and Walter was the oldest of five siblings.
The man showed a great willingness to learn and was also fluent in German. In time, he was promoted to sales associate. In the 1950s, he began traveling throughout Brazil for work. He made contacts with new customers and eventually became a sales manager. This position he still holds today. He loves his job and his morning routine. He starts his day with exercise and, despite his advanced age, goes to the office every day.
#He Thinks Only About the Present.
He has maintained a clear mind and a good memory. He is very proud that he has managed to find a job that he enjoys. In addition, he does not worry about the future and definitely lives in the present. What matters to him is the here and now. Interestingly, throughout his career he has been paid in 9 different currencies and has experienced many political as well as economic changes.
