A Colorful Village Was Built in Los Angeles. This Mysteriously Looking Project Is to Improve the Situation of the Homeless
An unusual settlement was opened at the beginning of February in LA. Its main goal is to address the needs of the homeless.
A colorful land
The Hope of The Valley organization was founded in 2009 in Los Angeles. It was set up to fight the problems of homelessness and poverty by helping the people who badly needed help. At the moment the organization runs 9 shelters, 2 aid centers and a centre of professional activation. Moreover, they supply 1,500 meals every day and provide 506 beds in a number of locations. Now, thanks to the village, the list is even longer.
This is thanks to the organization that the village for the homeless was built
There are 40 tiny houses that can accommodate one or two people
Each house is equipped with heating, air-conditioning, windows, a small desk and sockets
The village was opened on February 2 and within a few days all places were occupied. Apart from the houses, there is a small leisure space
The village has got toilets, showers, a laundry, a dining place and a luggage storage
Each house cost about $3,000 to build
The village is also pet-friendly, which is important for the homeless as animals are often their only companions
Chandler Boulevard Bridge Home Village was built and designed by Lehrer Architects within just 13 weeks
The main mission of the village is to help its citizens start a new chapter in their independent life
This is what the village looks like inside
What do you think about such a way of helping the homeless?
