He Lost His Sight as a Small Child

Daniel Kish was born in 1966 at the age of 13 months and lost his ability to see due to eye cancer. Like other blind children, he started making different sounds, trying to experience the world. And Daniel "buzzed" his language from the age of 2 and started to do it intuitively, although at that time he did not know the concept of echolocation yet. The human body has an incredible ability to "replace" lost senses, developing others. Therefore, blind people have great hearing, which Daniel uses to move in space.

Surprisingly, his mother was not angry with his habit of making strange sounds and did not try to teach him that habit. She also put great emphasis on the fact that her child, despite the disability, was able to cope on its own. It turned out that this "buzzing" allows him to have a great orientation in the space around him. Sounds are reflected in various objects and thanks to that Daniel is a great field navigator. This even allows him to ride his bike comfortably!

It wasn't long before Batman's name was attached to him. Daniel was studying echolocation during his education and obtained two master's degrees. He now passes on his navigation skills to other people with disabilities. He feels free and does not agree with the restrictions imposed on blind people. In addition, Daniel has a great distance to himself and is willing to present his skills not only at training shows but also on TV.

Now He Passes on His Knowledge to Others

Daniel founded World Access for the Blind (WAFTB), an organization that helps people around the world. Thanks to his teachings, blind people can more easily cope with the world around them. He himself derives a lot of joy from being able to teach others and is happy to find his vocation. He is an extremely open and smiling person.

He also managed to become a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist and to obtain National Blindness Professional Certification. And he is the first completely blind person to do so.

He is a true example of personal strength and self-confidence. Not only because of his abilities as a blind but also his dedication to others.
