For Catholics this may be hard to understand, perhaps even outrageous, for others it is simply a sign of our times. In Sopuerta, Spain, several architects have transformed an old Renaissance church into a house.

You have to admit, the place looks amazing - it's a combination of elements typical of Spanish Renaissance churches and a modern, pop-art house

Working on this project was not easy. It required a lot of ingenuity as well as effort. The main question was which elements of the church to keep and which to demolish

The church transformed into a house is 190 m², which is really quite a lot. It has all the modern conveniences. Almost all the doors are glass, to maximize the amount of light coming in

Architects inside the house decided to keep even a lot of old paintings that used to hang in the church. We must admit that they look quite special when combined with postmodern painting

According to the authors of the reconstruction, they wanted to keep even more of the old elements of the church, but unfortunately, many of them were in such a state that they could only be demolished

There is probably already a family living in the house, but for understandable reasons they prefer to keep it private

What do you think about converting churches into homes? Would you like to live in such a place?
