New housing estates do not have to be dull and grey. A team of Ukrainian architects proves that beyond any doubt.

A housing estate of playing blocks

In 2011, in the post-industrial part of Kiev, the first apartment blocks, being part of the Comfort Town estate, were built. The architects were keen on coherent development on one hand and on avoiding monotony on the other. Following this approach, the Archimatika studio designers went for straight lines and colors. The colorful and constantly growing estate looks like it was made of playing blocks.

    Green areas and kindergartens

The attractive blocks vary in the number of floors (from 2 to 16 floors), stunning anyone looking at their colorful front walls, they are in contrast with the grey blocks built of concrete slabs at the end of 20th century. In between the new buildings there are some green areas, fountains, yards and sculptures. Moreover, the locals have access to cafes, schools, kindergartens, gyms, sports facilities, swimming pools, a sports hall or 22 playgrounds.
