45 Years Ago a Forester Decided to Turn a Desert Area into a Forest. And This Is Where Right Now You Can See Bears and Boars Running Wild
This is a truly amazing story. A man called Hikmet Kaya 45 years ago became forester in the Boyabat district, Turkey. Although the piece of land he was in charge of was rather barren, he promised to change it into green woods.

It wasn’t that long ago when a photo he had taken went viral. It shows the man holding another photo showing some barren area. Behind the man you can see some juicy green forest. Believe it or not, but both photos show the same place.
When in 1978 Kaya became the head forester of the Boyabat area, he knew he would have to display a great deal of determination and resilience. He did it and as a result, also thanks to the support of the locals, he planted 800 thousand red pines.
Soon the seedlings turned into trees, and the new forest soon got inhabited by foxes, boars, rabbits and even bears.
