Glass Beach in California Attracts Crowds of Tourists. Its History, However, Is Not as Colorful as the Place Looks
Countless colorful pebbles glittering in the sun attract thousands of tourists. Most of them have no idea where they came from. And perhaps this is something they wouldn’t quite like to learn.

Glass Beach is a popular tourist resort near Fort Bragg in California
What makes people come here is millions of tine pebbles glistering in the sun
You can walk on them quite safely and many visitors decide to take at least one piece home as a souvenir
What they down know is the fact that what they actually take home is a piece of garbage from an old landfill site, dating back to 1960's
These colorful pebbles are glass left from broken bottles and other glass containers which weren’t properly cleaned when the dumpsite was being removed
The pieces of broken glass were polished by the ocean waves and now they are washed ashore
Would you go to the beach knowing it comes from garbage?
