Kinder Surprise eggs are made of milk chocolate covered with a layer of sweet milk-flavored cream. Inside the egg there is a plastic capsule containing a toy that sometimes has to be assembled. Originally they were made by an Italian company called Ferrero (from 1974) and this is thanks to this enterprise that the product won a worldwide popularity. It is Michele Ferrero and William Salice who are the fathers of this sweet invention.

Interestingly, Kinder Surprise eggs are illegal in America. It is all because of the law prohibiting the use of any inedible objects in confectionery products. However, since 2017 Kinder Joy eggs have been available in America – there are eggs of slightly altered design, with a toy on one side and the chocolate piece on the other.

The shape of the capsule refers to the shape of egg, while its color is to resemble the yolk. A number of Internet users admit that they had no idea that the color had any meaning.

Were you aware of the fact that the yellow color of the Kinder Surprise capsule comes from the color of egg yolk?
