    When Ticks Strike on

Many people are afraid of bites caused by ticks. No wonder, because these insects spread dangerous diseases (borreliosis, tick-borne encephalitis). In addition, they also attack pets, and the warming climate and mild winters have made ticks multiply rapidly and live not only in forests. They also live in parks, gardens and even on balconies.

However, ticks are not completely useless in the ecosystem. They are a food source for ants, beetles, as well as mice, lizards, toads or shrews. There are many ways to deter ticks from your garden. Use natural methods (chemicals also poison beneficial insects) and spray with black cherry.

    Beneficial black cherry

Black cherry is a shrub that is easily found in our country. It blooms in April and May and its bark, flowers and fruits have medicinal properties. What is interesting, it is avoided by ticks. It is enough to make a simple decoction and spray it on the grass and all garden plants.

    Plant Repellents

There are also plants whose very smell is unbearable for ticks. These include: common marigold, catnip, calamus, lavender, rosemary. Uninvited insects can also be repelled by horseradish root extract or a spray made from onion skins ground into powder.

    Interesting Fact

Tincture from cherry blossoms is an effective preparation repelling ticks and other vermin, which we can use on every walk in the forest throughout the summer. Just pour spirit over a jar of flowers and leave it for 14 days. That's all the preparation for ticks ready 🙂 .
When the flowers are gone, you can rub cherry leaves and twigs on your skin.

So how do you battle with ticks?
