This Russian Rapunzel Has Not Cut Her Hair for 23 Years

Angelica Baranova lives in Pokosnoye (Irkutsk region). She is 28 years old and attracts attention with her very long hair. She has been successively growing it since she was 5 years old. All thanks to her parents, who decided that her hair is exceptionally thick and healthy and will look spectacular when it grows. Currently, her hair is 53 inches long and Angelica only cuts the ends regularly (no more than 3-5inches).

Angelica won an apartment in Moscow thanks to her amazing hair. She took part in the Russian Braid competition and won the first prize. The contest follows the Russian tradition of braiding and growing hair.

The hair reaches the woman's heels. As she admits, it makes it a little difficult for her to move around, but she thinks it's a small price to pay as it attracts the eye and arouses general admiration. Angelica washes her hair twice a week and rubs coconut or burdock oil into it. After that, they need to air dry (she doesn't use a blow dryer).

In earlier centuries, every Russian woman grew her hair and her braid was a source of pride. A single braid was worn by maidens, and two braids were woven on the head of married women. When a ribbon was woven into the braid, it meant that the girl was ready to get married.
