The "Remembrance" Teddy Bears Are Stitched from the Favorite Outfits of Those Who Have Passed Away. Beautiful Mementos!
Mary Mac Innes, a 21-year-old artist turns the old clothes of her clients' loved ones into adorable teddy bears…all so they can keep their memories of them longer. She makes her art pieces, which she calls Memory Bears, primarily from the favorite garments of people who have since passed away. The teddy bears, while not considered toys, can be given to children to help them cope with the loss of a loved one, parent or someone equally special.
Mary began her tailoring career in the bridal industry and studied fashion technology at Heriot Watt University. At the age of 16, she won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. However, making a living sewing teddy bears was not planned. Five years ago, she made her first teddy bear for a friend and since then, she was constantly asked to make more, it was a bit hard for her to find time between studies and wedding fashion industry.
However, now is fair to say that it takes her only about 5 to 6 hours to make one teddy bear from scratch. Developing the design to planning, cutting, sewing and finalising some touches.
