For many of us weekends mean a lot of housework. While others enjoy the blessings of free time, we grab mops and sponges to give our houses a good clean. Wouldn’t it be better to spend the time with kids or even to do nothing at all?

That is why we have collected 12 reliable cleaning hacks that will make your housework much easier.

    #1 Washing machine

If used very often, after some time the machine may give off an unpleasant smell. There are a few ways you can get rid of it.

Once a month run a 90 degrees C ‘empty machine cycle’ and pour 2 cups of bleach. If it doesn’t help, mix a quarter glass of baking soda with a quarter glass of water and pour the mixture into the detergent drawer. Then pour 4 glasses of vinegar into the drum. Again, run the 900 C cycle and finally clean the rubber elements carefully.

That’s a difficult task, but, as they say, impossible is nothing! You need to remember that this is such a difficult job to do that even alcohol won’t handle it.

What you have to do is apply distilled water on the dirty spot with some soft cloth. Leave it there for 10 minutes and finally use a soft cloth to remove the water. The sofa should look brand new again.

Of course you can get it done by some professionals, but why spend so much money if you can do it yourself?

Mix (in equal proportion) mineral water, washing up liquid, vinegar and pour it into a spray bottle. Then spray the mixture on the seats. After 5 minutes, remove the dirt with round movements.

Alternatively, you can steam-clean it, as long as you use water only.

    #4 Shower head

This part of the shower needs cleaning on very regular basis. There is an easy and reliable way to do it. Pour 3 vodka glasses of vinegar and one of water into a foil bag and tie it on the head, for example using a rubber band. Leave it there for a night. In the morning clean the head with a sponge and you will see the difference!

    #5 Hairbrush

Cut the hair accumulated on it with scissors and, if possible, take it out. Pour 4 glasses of hot water into a dish and add three spoonful of baking soda. After an hour the hair should be loose enough to be picked up with your fingers. Then dry your brush and that’s it!

If you have a house with a garage, you know the problem. After some time the concrete driveway gets stained. There is a dedicated agent that removes oil stains, which is available in most DIY stores. Apply it on the stain(s) and after an hour collect the powder that will form when the detergent absorbed the oil. No big efforts required!
